horse in fredom

Once upon a time there was a horse named Caballo; he was very beautiful, intelligent, noble, and fast. His beauty and authenticity were so magnifying that his owner did not let him be free like the other horses for fear that he would run away or something would happen to him. This man, seeing that the horse was a little sad when he saw the other horses running, built him a fairly large corral so that the horse could run as much as he wanted.

Caballo: I have been at this farm for 15 years, and at the beginning it was fun to receive attention from all the farmers, receive showers, special snacks, people taking pictures of me, and have a cozy bed in my room with light that my owner built for me.

But despite all this, I still long for my freedom and to be able to run freely through the meadows with the other horses. I know that they are bigger than me, but I bet that I can be just as brave and run just as fast as them. Someday I will get to jump over that fence that limits me from staying with them, and I will show my master that I am big enough and smart enough to live like the other wild horses.

Days passed, and the horse constantly practiced his jump so that he could achieve his great jump to freedom. Days passed, and the horse was getting closer to his goal every day. Finally, the day of the great jump arrived; the horse jumped the fence and was completely free.

Caballo: Yes, I am free! Now no one will stop me from being a wild horse like the others!

The horse ran away and met up with the other horses, and they all continued to go down the mountains.

Everything was going well until it was time to stop for some food. All the horses proceeded to eat grass except caballo.

Caballo: “Grass!” It’s the only thing we will eat, but my master always feeds me with seeds, grass, and hay!

The other horses didn’t pay much attention and continued eating; the horse was a little disappointed, but he continued to eat because he was hungry.

The sun began to set, so the herd of horses began to look for a comfortable surface to rest on, and they took their place.

Caballo: Are we going to sleep here? But my master always lights a light in my room and also covers it with straw so that it is comfortable!

The horse, a little more disappointed, took his place and prepared to go to sleep with the rest of the group. The sun rose again, and this time they began their way to the river to take a bath since the heat was increasing. They arrived at the river, and everyone began to submerge themselves in the river except Caballo.

Caballo: Are we going to bathe here? But my master bathed me with water that was not as cold as this, and he will untangle my hair. Oh, I miss my master!

The horse, despite being free and having reunited with the other wild horses that he admires so much, was not as happy as he imagined he would be since he missed the farm, attention, and, above all, the love of his master. The thoughts persist in Caballo that he ends up deciding to walk away from the group.

Caballo: What a mistake I have made; because of my ambition to want more space and run wild, like the rest, I have lost my home and my master. I will return to the farm no matter how long it takes me to get there, but I will return to my master, and I will never leave him alone.

The tired and hungry horse finally arrived at the farm, ran wild, and jumped with the same happiness that he jumped out of the farm, but this time into the fence.

Unfortunately, to his surprise, his master was not there, since having lost his horse shocked him so much that it caused him a pre-heart attack, taking him to the hospital. His master was on a bed fighting for his life. Caballo, really sad, had waited 5 days in a row outside the door of his master’s house.

Finally the day arrived, and his master took him by surprise with a whistle.

Caballo: My Master! My Master! He has returned for me; forgive me for having caused you so much pain, and all because of my ambition to run wild like the other horses, even though they were bigger than me. Forgive me, master, for not having realized how lucky I was to be on the farm and have you, master. I promise you that I will spend every day with you until the time comes for both of us to run wild.

Caballo and Master reunited and cuddled with each other with both of their hearts filled with joy!
